FACTS
BREAD OF LIFE EPA serves hot meals to the hungry
on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The number of diners fluctuates dramatically
from day to day, but may be as high as ~200.
On holidays and special occasions, up to 500-750
diners are served.
BREAD OF LIFE EPA has strategically formed
collaborative relationships with other local
CBO's (Community-Based Organizations) in an
effort to enhance services delivered to the
homeless and other residents of EPA and eMP.
(Details available upon request.)
BREAD OF LIFE EPA Summer 2003 Children's Program
served over 75 children. Fewer activities (singing,
games, action performances by children) were
offered this summer, compared to last summer,
due to scarcity of resources and personnel.
Even so, children were honored at each meal
(full course meals with their families) and
provided with nutritious snacks, nutrition education
and social-skill-enhancing, fun activities.
BREAD OF LIFE EPA's Operations Director, Dr.
Jeri L. Hill (dr. j) is intimately familiar
with the unique culture and challenges of residents.
She brings to BREAD OF LIFE EPA a vision of
innovative advocacy for the homeless
and economically-disadvantaged children with
early academic, emotional and spiritual intervention
to "break the cycle" of bondage that
such children inherit, internalize and "pass
on" to the next generation.
